A remote dropper post will help give their confidence a boost, and big volume 2.35in Schwalbe Hans Dampf tyres have the grip they'll need to build their riding skills. And, with pedal assistance up to 20km/h from Bosch's lightweight SX drive and 400Wh battery – delivered via Shimano's smooth 1x11 Cues gears – there's plenty of extra shove on tap for fun family rides.
Frame and equipment
From its Advanced Internal Cable Routing to its Boost rear axle and UDH gear hanger, the Acid 240 Hybrid Rookie's frame is bursting with exactly the same kind of attention to detail as our adult mountain bikes. The lightweight Bosch SX drive and fixed 400Wh battery sit snugly in the frame, providing up to 55Nm of pedal assistance to a maximum speed of 20km/h, plus full compatibility with the optional 250Wh PowerMore range extender. It's even dropper seatpost ready and SIC 2.0 compatible, for easy fitting of a luggage carrier. And, with the included kickstand, your youngster will never struggle for somewhere to park it.
