29 inch Hardtail Mountainbikes

Despite initial doubts on the part of bike fans, 29er hardtails, also known as "twentyniners", have now become completely established and are winning mountain bike/CC World Cups non-stop. The special thing about these MTB hardtails is that manufacturers are now able to use extremely light and rigid frames made of aluminium or carbon. This means that vertical forces can be dampened without compromising the stiffness of the frame. In combination with the 29 inch wheels, there is an enormous smoothness and stability, which ensures more riding safety, especially when riding downhill.

When accelerating, a 29" wheel moves forward a little more hesitantly at first than, for example, a 26" wheel, but during the ride it leads to significantly higher speeds, which suits both racers and touring riders. In addition, there is extremely good rollover and steering behaviour. This protects the material on the one hand, but also the rider himself. This generates a noticeable plus in traction and comfort - without any rear suspension. Thanks to the high contact surface, a higher cornering speed is also possible, and the low weight means that there are no limits to sporting success both uphill and downhill. Impacts from stones or branches are minimised, and in combination with the profiled off-road tyres for optimal grip and the high riding comfort, the 29er hardtail becomes an absolute all-rounder with flexible application possibilities on asphalt, forest paths or trails.

Hardtail 29 Inch

One of the biggest advantages of 29er tyres is that the bottom bracket sits lower in relation to the wheel axle, which lowers the centre of gravity "between the wheels". This means that the front wheel rises less quickly on the uphill and the danger of a rollover on the downhill is reduced. The absolute controllability and increased grip ensure unforgettable riding performance. The specially adapted frame geometries offer uncomplicated handling and an ergonomically optimised riding position despite the 29" tyres. Most 29er hardtails offer a choice of several frame sizes. The high stiffness is ensured by the mostly used titanium or aluminium, in the high-end range also carbon, which brings an optimal power transmission and maximum stability. A lowerable seat post is now also part of most mountain bikes, so that the riding position can be varied as required.

In contrast to the full-suspension bike, the hardtail is only equipped with a suspension fork, which explains the lower weight on the one hand and on the other hand allows for more efficient power transmission. The suspension travel can be selected depending on the area of use and ranges between 100 and 130/140 mm. For everyday use on asphalt, forest paths or easier trails, a suspension travel of 100 mm is absolutely sufficient. The absence of double suspension also results in significantly lower maintenance and weight. Powerful disc brakes ensure perfect deceleration of the bike, and the gears also use high-quality components with precise, mountain-suitable gearing. The all-rounder does without unnecessary, highly sophisticated technology and concentrates on the essentials: Riding fun, flexibility and durability. This is why the entry-level prices of the MTB Hardtails 29" range from approx. 500€ to 1000€.
